HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Eighteen people have pleaded guilty to participating in a drug ring that distributed cocaine and prescription drugs on South Carolina's south coast.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that (http://bit.ly/1uZAUz2r ) 32 people were named in a federal indictment two years ago that charged them with participating in the ring operating in Beaufort County.
The government charged that they took part in a scheme to trade cocaine for oxycodone and other drugs. The indictment alleged the operation began back in 2004.
Of the 18 people who have pleaded guilty, four have been sentenced.
