HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) - Tuesday evening will bring clarity to the much anticipated plans for a new elementary school in Hanahan.
Berkeley County School District will hold a public meeting and unveil the site for the new K-5th grade school.
Although the location is now a mystery, Berkeley County School District P.I.O Chip Sturgis says it will be built in the Tanner Plantation- Foster Creek Road area.
Sturgis says the school will hold 900 students and will alleviate the overcrowding at Goose Creek Primary, Hanahan Elementary and Sedgefield Intermediate schools.
There are several proposed sites for the new school including 20 acre sections on Williams Lane as well as an area at the end of Foster Creek Road.
It's a $22 million project that will be funded by a referendum that was approved in November of 2012.
City leaders and school district officials say they hope to have the school built by August 2015.
The meeting will be at at Goose Creek Primary at 6:30 p.m. That's located at 200 Foster Creek Road.
