Police: Text messages led to Orangeburg stabbing

ORANGEBURG, SC (AP) - Authorities say an Orangeburg woman has been charged with murder after she stabbed her boyfriend during an argument over text messages about another child he had fathered.

A report from Orangeburg Public Safety said 23-year-old Courtney Price was holding her child and covered in blood when police arrived Saturday morning. The child wasn't hurt.

Authorities say Price told investigators she stabbed 24-year-old Samuel Simmons after he started choking her during the argument.

Police say the fight began when Price found text messages on Simmons' phone about him and another woman and the child they had together.

The report says Price told police she had enough of Simmons' abuse and decided to fight back. Police say she fell to the floor crying when she was told her boyfriend was dead.
