BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Customers of Santee Cooper are eligible to receive two free energy-efficient light bulbs per household through Friday.
The weeklong giveaway is part of the utility's celebration of Public Power Week and Customer Service Week, both of which happen the week of Oct. 6, spokesperson Nicole Aiello said.
"The LED giveaways are one way we help customers reduce their use of electricity," Customer Service Sr. Vice President Marc Tye said. "Using LEDs, especially in high traffic and commonly-used areas, can save energy and money."
The LED giveaways will take place at all nine Santee Cooper retail offices during regular business hours, including the Moncks Corner headquarters and St. Stephen locations in Berkeley County.
Residential customers can visit any Santee Cooper retail office beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, and receive two free LED bulbs per household. The free LEDs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and quantities are limited.
"The giveaway only lasts a few days, but the savings can last for years," Tye said.
Santee Cooper is South Carolina's largest power producer, the largest Green Power generator and the ultimate source of electricity for 2 million people across the state.
