Battery Park monument vandalized

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The monument to Gen. William Moultrie at Battery Park was vandalized with blue spray paint Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the reported vandalism at 12:41 p.m.

The statue of Moultrie, had been spray painted or "tagged" with several messages around its base, the police report states. Some of the messages read, "Kidd Napp," "Bye East Egg," and "Olds Out 99%," the report states. Additional marks are uncomprehendable, police say.

The City Parks and Recreation Department will handle clean-up and removal of the paint, police say.
