Westmoreland Bridge traffic moving after disabled 18-wheeler causes delays

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Traffic is moving again on the Westmoreland Bridge Monday night.

A disabled 18-wheeler on the westbound side of the bridge led to bumper-to-bumper traffic.

At 5:40 p.m., Live 5 Traffic Tracker was showing a major backup with travel times between Mount Pleasant and West Ashley taking up to 69 minutes. Emergency vehicles had one westbound lane shut down.

Average speeds for motorists leading up to the bridge were at 10 mph or less at 5:15 p.m.
