Domestic Violence observance set for SC Statehouse

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A ceremony on the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia is remembering the victims of domestic violence in South Carolina.

The 17th annual Silent Witness Domestic Violence ceremony is being held at 11 a.m. Tuesday on the south steps of the Statehouse.

During the ceremony, Attorney General Alan Wilson will read the names of those who died in domestic violence incidents in South Carolina during 2013.

As each name is read, friends, family members and volunteers carry life-sized silhouettes to the steps representing each victim. An additional silhouette will represent those unknown victims of domestic violence.
