RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

An SUV stolen from a disabled veteran in Cross in Berkeley County has been found in Ridgeland in Jasper County.

The Ridgeland Police Department says Larry Gatie's vehicle found abandoned in a hotel parking lot over the weekend.

Gatie called Live 5 News after the vehicle was stolen from his home in Cross back in August. Gatie said the vehicle was the only transportation he had to get to the VA hospital in Charleston. He also said the SUV was a gift to him from his mother who died of cancer.

The folks who run Rick Hendrick Hyundai saw the original news story, and wanted to help Gatie. They gave him another SUV free of charge.

Gatie's girlfriend told us the recovered vehicle is in relatively good shape.
