Skinful Halloween party called off, but not gone forever

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - After 13 years of providing the Lowcountry with a massive Halloween bash, organizers of the Skinful party have decided it's not happening this year.

Event organizer, Brian King, said over the phone Tuesday that last year's event was "exhausting" to plan.

They struggled to find a venue because of safety and noise concerns, eventually ending up with a silent disco at the Brickhouse off Folly Road on James Island.

But that's not the only trouble they've had in the past.

In 2011, a 25-year-old man was hit and killed on Folly Road by a suspected drunk driver after leaving the Halloween Party.

Charleston County Sheriff's Deputies beefed up supervision around the area in the following years

King said their past problems are not directly related to why they're not hosting the annual party. He says family, and his partners family who just had a child, just wanted to take a break.

According to King, they're only taking one year off and they're going to "come back next year stronger than ever."

So, expect a Skinful party in 2015.
