Lottery to honor two sets of winning numbers for Tuesday Evening Pick 3

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) -

The South Carolina Education Lottery will honor two sets of winning numbers from Tuesday night's televised Pick 3 lottery drawing.

The official reported set of winning numbers for Tuesday's Evening Pick 3 were 3-6-4. Players holding a ticket with those numbers may claim their prize in the normal manner, officials say.

But an abnormality during Tuesday night's Evening Pick 3 drawing had lottery officials reviewing the playback.

During the drawing, which aired at 7 p.m., as the third digit of the Pick 3 drawing was being selected, a ball with the number seven briefly rose to the top of the chute where the selected ball appears, but then immediately dropped back into the hopper.

A ball with the number four then went up the chute and stayed in place.

The on-screen graphics showed the Evening Pick 3 final numbers as "3-6-7," but the lottery released the final numbers as "3-6-4," leading players to contact the lottery and the stations that carried the live drawing for clarification.

Players holding Pick 3 tickets bearing the numbers 3-6-7 for the Tuesday, Oct. 7 evening draw must take or mail their tickets to the Columbia Claims Center for processing and prize payment, lottery officials said.

"The lottery is a transparent organization," Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea said. "These are our loyal players, and we honor our mistakes. Our player expect nothing less, and we are going to pay both sets of numbers."

Players with questions or concerns can call the Lottery toll-free at (866)-736-9819.
