SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating after receiving numerous complaints this week regarding a group of people going door-to-door selling vacuum cleaners in Summerville.
According to deputies, multiple people have called stating vacuum cleaner salesmen are using "aggressive selling tactics and attempting to force their way in to the residence."
An incident report states deputies made contact with two employees of the vacuum cleaner business in the Crestwood Subdivision Wednesday around 3 p.m.
Deputies say one of the employees claimed their business, RTS, LLC, is new to the area and includes 9 salesmen. The employee was unable to provide a business license, claiming she was "unaware that she was required to have one," the report states.
Deputies say the employee was advised on the procedure to get a business license, as well as the consequences for operating without one.
The employee reportedly told police the business operates out of 622 Old Trolly Road, and that she would pick up the other salesmen in the area and not return until she had a business license.
