SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - After putting up a fight, a Summerville convenience store has received a permit to sell beer and wine.
Mia Quickstop was initially denied a license after some community protest.
The store opened in April and is across the street from Alston Middle School on Highway 78
At a hearing last week in Columbia, the protests were withdrawn.
While state law is strict regarding the sale of liquor near schools, churches and playgrounds, no such law exists for beer and wine.
