Coroner IDs man killed in Berkeley County crash

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office released the identity of the Moncks Corner man who died in a crash along Highway 402 on Wednesday morning.

Melvin Glover, Jr., 65, died when his Corvette ran off the left side of the roadway, crossed over to the right side and struck a tree at approximately 11:45 a.m., according to Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Glover was coming around a curve in the roadway when he lost control of the vehicle, Salisbury said. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Berkeley County Rescue Squad and pronounced dead on the scene, Salisbury said.

Investigators say Glover was wearing his seatbelt and the death was ruled accidental by the coroner.

The Berkeley County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
