NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Walmart established a temporary hiring center in North Charleston to accept applications for a new Goose Creek location.
The retailer is accepting applications Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 2110 Greenridge Road, Suite D, in North Charleston, according to a release from the company.
Walmart will hire up to 95 people, both full and part-time associates, to work at its Neighborhood Market, which is slated to open in Goose Creek in the winter, according to store manager Joey Peters.
"We are excited to be bringing the Walmart Neighborhood Market format to Goose Creek, and this new, convenient shopping option means customers can save money so they can live better," Peters said.
The majority of the new employees will begin work in December to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
Walmart announced plans for the new location in July for a 7.3 acre property formerly occupied by the Butchies by Design store on St. James Avenue.
The Neighborhood Market format includes a full supermarket with organic and natural selections and various prepared food options, a pharmacy and an adjoining gas station, the company's website states.
The new store is expected to be about a quarter of the size of a typical Walmart Superstore.
The company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who is within 12 months of active duty and meets Walmart's standard hiring criteria through its Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the release states.
In addition to the North Charleston location, applicants may submit an application at the company's website: http://careers.walmart.com.
