The Citadel's Moore, White Earn Preseason Recognition

CHARLESTON, SC - The Citadel's Ashton Moore and Brian White have earned preseason recognition heading into the 2014-15 basketball campaign.

Moore was the lone representative from The Citadel on the preseason All-Southern Conference team, determined by the league's coaches. This comes on the heels of a second-team selection to the College Sports Madness all-conference team, which also included White.

Moore earned the respect of opposing coaches a season ago after leading the Dogs in several categories against SoCon opposition including minutes (587), field goals made (86), 3-point field goals made (43), free throws made (54), assists (61), steals (22) and points (269).

The Suffolk, Va., native topped the 20-point plateau in six league games, including a career-high 35 points when he hit 11-of-19 from the field against regular season champion Davidson. He ended his season with back-to-back 24-point outings against UNCG and Wofford at the SoCon Tournament when he became the first Bulldog since J'Mel Everhart (2006) to be named to the all-tournament team.

White capped off an impressive debut campaign that ranked him alongside Matt Newman as the only Citadel freshmen in program history to rank in the top 10 in points (368), offensive rebounds (51), defensive rebounds (130), total rebounds (181), field goals made (147), free throws made (72), blocks (28) and minutes played (901).

A native of Richmond, Va., White was named the SoCon Freshman of the Week three times, becoming the first Citadel player to receive a weekly honor from the league multiple times in the same season. White was also named to the postseason all-freshman squad.
