DETROIT (WCSC/AP) - Evenflo has issued a recall on over 200,000 child car seats following complaints of difficulty unlatching the harness.
after the company received "a small number of complaints" regarding the harness crotch buckle getting stuck on select Embrace 35 child restraint seats.
According to a press release, the buckle may become difficult to unlatch over time due to exposure to things like food and drink, making it difficult to remove a child from the car seat.
The complaints have led to a recall of 27 Embrace 35 models produced between December 1, 2011 and May 31, 2013.
Not all Embrace 35 models have been recalled. The recall only affects the following model numbers: 30711365, 31511040, 31511323, 31511400, 3151198, 3151953, 31521138, 46811205, 46811237, 48111200, 48111215, 48111215A, 48111218, 48111234, 48111235, 48111235A, 48111462, 48411391, 48411391D, 48411392, 48411504, 48411504D, 52911307A, 52921040, 55311138, 55311238, and 55311292
Consumers who believe their Embrace 35 child restraint seat is impacted by the recall may contact Evenflo at 1-800-490-7591 to receive a free remedy kit.
The buckle in question has not been used to manufacture the Embrace 35 since May 2013, according to the company.
