Report: Robbery victim following suspects stops pursuit after hearing gunshots

North Charleston police are looking for six suspects, all younger than 16 and one of whom may be armed.

Investigators say a robbery victim who attempted to catch the people who stole from him stopped his pursuit after he heard gunfire on Friday afternoon in the area of Railroad Avenue and Alton Street.

The victim said he was approached by five males and one female, all between the ages of 12 and 15, who demanded his iPad and hat.

According to police, the victim handed over the items to the suspects who then fled to Railroad Avenue towards the back of a neighborhood.

The victim said he chased the suspects, and when he reached a wooded area near the railroad tracks, he heard gunshots.

Police say the victim then stopped the pursuit. Authorities say they were not able to find any evidence at the scene.

Police are investigating.
