CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A day after U.S. Senate Independent candidate Thomas Ravenel took to Facebook to talk about his relationship with the mother of his child, a new post calls it a "huge mistake."
"I made a huge mistake yesterday," a post on Ravenel's Facebook page on Monday morning read. "No father should EVER speak negatively about the mother of his child, period."
In a Sunday a post, which has since been deleted, Ravenel apparently said his relationship with Kathryn Dennis had come to an end.
The post cited Dennis' response to allegations of assault against her hairdresser, which surfaced last week, as a factor in his decision.
According to a police report, the hairdresser claims Ravenel stormed out of his Downtown Charleston home with his 7-month-old daughter, slipped, and fell into the pool on October 17. The woman told police Ravenel then slammed a door, hitting her arm.
Ravenel maintains the allegations are untrue. No charges have been filed in the case.
In the Facebook post, Ravenel said he asked Kathryn to leave a shoot for Bravo TV series "Southern Charm" in Jekyll Island when the allegations were made. He said Kathryn did make plans to leave and help fight the allegations, but then backed out of the decision to continue filming.
Here is the post in its entirety, from Ravenel's personal Facebook page:
Dennis confirmed on Twitter the two are no longer together, saying she is doing what is best for her daughter.
Ravenel's relationship with Dennis was chronicled in the first season of the Bravo reality show. They have one child.
