JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A Johns Island man is behind bars after deputies say he assaulted his ex-girlfriend and attacked a man who was attempting to stop the assault.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office charged 38-year-old Christopher Lee Cassidy with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and third-degree assault and battery in connection to an incident at a home on Timothy Simmons Road on Sunday.
The victim said it all started when she and Cassidy, her ex-boyfriend and roommate, got into a verbal altercation which turned physical.
According to the victim, when she went to her room, Cassidy kicked the door down and punched her in the head. The victim told police that Cassidy began to strangle her by placing her in a headlock which cut off her air supply, and told her,"I'm going to kill you."
Court records state when a witness saw the assault and attempted to stop it, Cassidy punch him three times in the face.
Cassidy was given a $52,130 bond.
