COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say 13 kids and two adults were transported to the hospital with minor injuries following a school bus accident Monday morning.
Emergency officials say the accident happened in the 1000 block of Nunuville Road north of Walterboro where a car ran into the back of a stopped school bus.
Colleton County Fire and Rescue says the bus was stopped to pick up children and was using its warning lights when the incident occurred.
CCFR authorities say the children on the bus were mostly between the ages of 3 and 5.
All the children and the two drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Highway Patrol.
Authorities had shut down Nunuville Road as crews cleared the scene.
SCHP Trooper Hannah Wimberly said the driver of the car was charged with driving under suspension and too fast for conditions.
