DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Traffic along Highway 61 in Dorchester County is back to normal after a wreck involving a logging truck and car Wednesday morning.

The Highway Patrol said traffic had been shut down following the accident that happened shortly before 9 a.m. Pictures from scene showed an overturned truck and dozens of logs on the roadway.

Towing vehicles responded to the scene to assist crews with the the truck and clear its cargo from the roadway.

A car traveling south on Hwy. 61 crossed the center line and struck the rear of the logging truck at about 8:45 a.m., causing the truck's driver to lose control and overturn, Trooper Hannah Wimberly said.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals, and no fatalities were reported, Wimberly said. Dorchester Co. Sheriff's Capt. Tony Phinney said a helicopter had been dispatched to the scene to assist.

The driver of the car will be cited for crossing the center line, Wimberly said.
