The southbound lanes of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge have been cleared and are reopened following an accident involving an overturned trailer.
A pickup truck from a lawn service company was hauling a trailer that overturned, spilling tree and lawn debris onto the roadway, shutting down all but the far left southbound lanes at approximately 12:45 p.m.
The incident appeared to only involve one vehicle, Mount Pleasant Police Inspector Chip Googe said. Traffic officers will determine the cause for the accident.
Several lanes of the bridge on the side headed into downtown Charleston were closed for just more than an hour as crews worked to clear the scene and get the trailer upright.
