Soon more than 2 million lights will illuminate James Island County Park for the 25th annual Holiday Festival of Lights.
The hard work, leading up to the event, makes it all possible. The festival starts November 14th, but crews started stringing lights and setting up 45 days prior to that.
Sarah Reynolds, Public Information Coordinator Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission, says the first Holiday Festival of Lights featured 18 light displays. That was in 1990. Now, there are more than 750 light displays.
Every year, light show crews and volunteers work to make new displays, while keeping some of the most popular attractions.
Reynolds says, this year there's a special mystery display that will be revealed when the lights turn on.
The Holiday Festival of Lights is open every evening from November 14th - January 1st.
There's also a run/walk November 12 &13th that will offer a sneak peak.
