N. Charleston police investigate Remount Rd. robbery

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police officers are searching for a man in connection with an armed robbery outside a business on Remount Road.

Police responded to the 1900-block of Remount Road shortly before 10 a.m., where a woman told them she had just been robbed after she walked out of a business to make a bank deposit, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

The victim told police she had seen the man "milling about" outside several shops in the area while speaking with another man. Police say the man opened the victim's driver's side door after she had gotten into her car with a bank deposit bag, showed her a handgun, and took the bag.

The man then fled on foot towards Baker Street, Pryor said.

Officers conducted a search for the suspect and located a red hooded sweatshirt the victim said the robber had been wearing, police say.

The incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
