NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 69-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder after a fist fight over accusations of theft at a North Charleston home ended in gunfire.
According to court affidavits, the incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. at a home in the 2100 block of Crossgate Blvd. in the Ashley Heights neighborhood. Officers met with the victim, who claimed Aaron Jenkins was trying to kill him.
Investigators say an argument broke out inside the suspect's home after Jenkins accused the victim of stealing. The altercation between the two friends turned physical, resulting in the victim leaving the home.
While in the front yard, records state Jenkins pulled a handgun out of a bag and fired four shots at the victim - who was less than 30 feet away - with one round striking a vehicle the victim was hiding behind.
An incident report states officers recovered shell casings in the front yard, and found the pistol in the laundry room of the suspect's home.
Jenkins was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
