NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Police are investigating a shooting that left an 11-year-old wounded.
Police responded on Sunday afternoon to home in the 2600 block of Harvey Avenue where they found a woman applying pressure to a gunshot wound on her son's leg, an incident report states.
The woman told police she had told her son to empty his dinner plate in the trash can outside the residence, and that the child was shot by someone in the backyard. Neither the boy or his mother could see the shooter, police say.
The boy was transported to MUSC and treated.
A nurse told police the boy reported having heard one gunshot prior to the shot that wounded him. The boy was not sure how many shots he heard.
Anyone with information on the shooting should call North Charleston Police or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
