NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Fort Dorchester High School went under an administrative lockdown Tuesday morning for approximately 25 minutes at the request of deputies, school officials say.
A robbery at a location in the general area of the school prompted the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office to request the measure as a safety precaution, Dorchester School District Two spokesperson Pat Raynor said.
"There was no indication that the alleged robber was anywhere near the school," Raynor said. "There was no immediate danger posed to the school, staff or students."
The lockdown began at approximately 11:20 a.m. and was lifted at approximately 11:45 a.m.
During an administrative lockdown, there was no interruption to teaching. The only restrictions involved students or teachers leaving classrooms or the cafeteria areas, Raynor said.
