More than 400 veterans were honored in North charleston for the annual Veterans Day ceremony.

There was standing room only as veterans received medals, tokens of gratitude to the men and woman who served their country.

This was the 4th year North Charleston was selected as a location for a ceremony. It was one of two official regional sites in SC that hosted the tribute.

A special keynote speaker, retired Lieutenant Colonel Clebe McClary, gave a touching speech, talking about his experience serving with Ralph H. Johnson in Vietnam. He was beside Johnson when he dove on the explosive, gave is life and helped protect the enemy
from penetrating the line.

Other important speakers filled the tent, outside the Felix Davis Community Center.

Senator Tim Scott shook the hands of hundreds of veterans and posed for several pictures. He said this year's ceremony was especially important, just a week after being elected as Senator.

Mayor Keith Summey and others shared their message of thanks to the veterans.
