CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Novelist Pat Conroy, whose book "My Losing Season" was a memoir of his senior basketball season at The Citadel, is being inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame.
Conroy is being made an honorary member of the hall on Friday, as is Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr.
Riley was instrumental in getting Riley Park built. The baseball stadium near The Citadel is nicknamed "The Joe" and is home to both the Charleston RiverDogs minor league team and The Citadel baseball team.
Four others being inducted on Friday include all-Southern Conference football player Mike Davitt as well as baseball standouts Hank Craft and Rodney Hancock. Wrestler Dan Thompson is also being inducted.
