LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - A group of motorcycle enthusiasts wants to create a memorial to five Lexington County children authorities say were killed by their father.
The State newspaper reports that leaders of Bikers Against Abusing Children want to put the memorial in Town Square Park in Lexington. It's across from Family Court officers, where disputes involving children are handled.
State social services officials visited the family of Timothy Ray Jones Jr. three times to investigate conditions. The 32-year-old father is accused of killing his five children on Aug. 28 in the family's Red Bank home, then driving around the Southeast for days before being stopped at a check point in Mississippi.
Investigators say Jones led them to the children's bodies, which were found in plastic garbage bags Sept. 9 outside Camden, Alabama.
