BEAFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - If you've ever dreamed of having your own private island, this could be your chance...and it's right off the South Carolina coast.
Ted Turner, who built his late father's outdoor advertising business into the Turner Broadcasting empire, is selling St. Phillips Island near Beaufort for $23.7 million.
Plantation Services, Inc., says the island is completely private and can only be accessed by boat from the mainland. A four-mile trail leads from docking facilities to an approximately 4,300 square foot home.
His family purchased the tiny island in 1979.
St. Phillips Island is self-sufficient with its own water and power supply.
