MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - From turkey, to stuffing, to yams, the makings of a great Thanksgiving dinner will be on hundreds of Lowcountry tables, thanks to East Cooper Meals on Wheels. They be delivered to families Tuesday
morning. It's an annual effort put on by East Cooper Meals on Wheels that started in 2008.
More than 10 volunteers packed the bags on Nov. 13. Everything inside was either donated to East Cooper Meals on Wheels or bought with donated money.
The food was delivered at 9:30 am., following the mission of the organization. It aims to serve nutritious meals to the homebound in the service area, East of the Cooper River. This food was sent to current recipients.
The items include frozen turkey, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, stuffing and gravy.
This effort highlights East Cooper Meals on Wheels' bigger mission to serve people of any age, and income, who are unable to provide their own meals.
