WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is searching for a man suspected of breaking into multiple vehicles in the West Ashley area.
Investigators are searching for 24-year-old Patrick McCabe who is also wanted for financial transaction card theft.
A man told police on Nov. 14 that someone had broken into his car overnight at his home on Fife Lane. The victim said he also located a Sonoco credit card, which did not belong to him, near his vehicle.
When investigators tracked down the owner of the credit card at a home on Vestry Drive, the owner checked his vehicle and realized his wallet had been stolen from the center console of his car. The victim said his car had been unlocked in his driveway during the time of the theft.
The victim said he parked his car in the driveway on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. According to the victim, his wallet contained his driver's license and multiple credit cards.
The victim told police that he was contacted by his bank who told him that someone attempted to use one of his cards at 4 a.m. at a Walmart. Investigators say someone also attempted to use the same card somewhere in Summerville.
According to police, McCabe drives a silver 2005 Toyota Tacoma (SC tags - JZF252), and is know to stay at a residence on Bishops Drive.
