BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified a 36-year-old Orangeburg man who died Monday following a collision on Old State Road.
Coroner Bill Salisbury says Douglas Soles was driving east on Old State Road when his vehicle collided head-on with a van traveling west. Soles was pronounced dead at the scene.
Salisbury says the mother and five children in the van were transported to MUSC. No word on their injuries.
According to the coroner, Soles was not wearing a seatbelt, and his death has been ruled accidental.
Officials have not yet identified who was at fault in the accident.
The accident is under investigation by the Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
