NCPD investigating Thanksgiving Day drive-by shooting


North Charleston police are continuing to investigate a Thanksgiving Day shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Officials say they responded to the area of Patriots Blvd. and Appian Way just after 11:40 p.m. in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers found the victim in the driver's seat of his vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds to his back. 

The victim told police he was stopped at a light on Patriots Blvd when a white Camry occupied by two men pulled up and began firing at him before turning left onto Appian Way. The victim then drove a short distance and called 911. 

According to an incident report, the victim refused to answer questions when asked if he knew the men who shot him. 

Police say the driver's side door of the victim's vehicle was damaged by gunfire. 

According to officers, the victim was transported to MUSC with gunshot wounds to his back. 

The report states officers found 10 9mm shell casings and one bullet fragment in the roadway where the shooting occurred.
