Lowcountry physicians group CEO resigns

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The chief executive officer of one of the Lowcountry's largest primary care doctors group has resigned.

Jeff Lehrich resigned his position at Palmetto Primary and Specialty Care Physicians last week, Executive Board President Dr. Thomas Arnau said.

"The executive board wishes Mr. Lehrich well in his future endeavors," Arnau said, but declined to comment further.

Earlier this year, the group announced plans to build a $135 million medical campus in Summerville and launched a health plan available to self-funded employers and added mammogram services to the specialty care services it offers.

PPSCP serves almost 300,000 people, according to its website, and has plans to spread statewide.

Lehrich took the helm in April of 2013.

There is no word on when a successor will be named.

Lehrich could not be reached for comment.
