RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The nightclub where a man was stabbed to death Sunday morning does not have a history of trouble, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
Forty six year old Michael Haynes died from a stab wound to the chest at the Paradise Lounge on Old Gilliard Road. Investigators are still looking for Haynes' killer.
It didn't take long for residents to hear about what happened.
"Too close to home, that's right too close to home, you're right," said Flossie Pringle who lives near the nightclub.
Another resident who calls herself Pepper didn't want her face on camera.
"Too close to home. My mama's handicapped, so it's too close to home," Pepper said. "I'm sorry that a parent lose a child, but it's bad out here. There's a lot going on. That's why I don't go to clubs."
We wanted to find out if the club has a history of violence.
A spokesman for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office tells us deputies have been called to the Paradise Lounge just three times in the last year.
Once for a minor shooting, another time for an assault and the third time for Sunday's fatal stabbing.
Some residents say one violent incident is one too many for them. Others say the county should put a close for good sign on the Paradise Lounge.
"They should close it down. It needs closing down. If they have no control over it then you close it down," Pringle said.
We reached out to the owner of the Paradise Lounge, but he declined to comment.
