Structure fire off Rivers Ave. damages neighboring home, displaces 7

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters have extinguished a residential structure fire in a neighborhood off Rivers Avenue.

Officials with the North Charleston Fire Department say the blaze occurred in the 2500 block of Taylor Street just before 11 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find a garage fully engulfed in flames, and heavy smoke billowing into the sky.

The blaze spread to the attached house, and caused heat damage to a neighboring home, according to authorities.

Officials say one person was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical issue. A family of six and a neighbor were displaced due to the blaze, according to the fire department.
