CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies have arrested one of three suspects involved in a violent early morning home invasion last week along Ashley River Road.
Bryan Leigh Bivens, 20, of Ladson, was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of kidnapping, first degree burglary, armed robbery, first degree assault and battery, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Deputies say Bivens and two other suspects broke into a home in the 2400 block of Ashley River Road around 4 a.m. Friday.
The three suspects reportedly broke into the home, grabbed three victims who were sleeping, and brought them one at a time into the living room where they taped up their hands and feet.
One of the victims, who is 81-years-old, tells Live 5 News he was punched in his mouth and nose while being dragged from his bed and taken into the living room.
Each of the suspects then held the victims at gunpoint.
According to an incident report, the victims told police the suspects took all the batteries out of their phones so they could not call for help, and threatened to burn the home down with the victims trapped inside.
The suspects reportedly stole money, several guns, and a vehicle from the residence.
After the suspects fled the scene, one of the victims was able to get of of the tape and go to a gas station to call for help.
Police say one of the victims was able to identify Bivens. An affidavit states the victim knew Bivens for more than 10 years, and recognized his voice and physical description. The same victim also recognized a second suspect as a man named Jasmine, who goes by Jazz.
The victims were treated on scene by EMS for minor scrapes and bruises.
