CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Business continues to be brisk with the total number of containers moving through South Carolina's ports up 14 percent during the fiscal year that began July compared to last fiscal year.
The total number of containers handled last month was almost 85,000 - that's up 10 percent from last November.
The South Carolina Ports authority reports that during November the ports handled cargo volume that could be shipped in the equivalent of almost 145,000 20-foot containers. That's up 8 percent over last November.
Because shipping containers are of different sizes, volume is generally reported in how many 20-foot containers the cargo would fill.
