CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County authorities say road crews will implement a one-day traffic shift along Harbor View Road beginning Thursday night.
Crews will be working between Quail Drive and Affirmation Boulevard in a project designed to improve traffic flow and safety and to provide adequate bicycle and pedestrian facilities, according to county spokesperson Shawn Smetana.
Road work will happen, weather permitting, between 8 p.m. on Thursday and 6 a.m. on Friday, and Smetana says at no time will the entire roadway be blocked to traffic. Construction signs and cones will be in place to direct motorists through the lane shift.
When complete, the project will add a center two-way left turn lane between North Shore Drive and Affirmation Boulevard, the addition of right turn lanes at major intersections, the addition of traffic signals at Fort Sumter Drive and Mikell Drive, and the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Harbor View Road and Fort Johnson Road.
The project is scheduled to be completed in September of 2016.
