NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 43-year-old woman in connection with a shooting early on Christmas morning.
Deborah Brooks Oliver is facing a charge of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, court documents state.
Police responded to a home on Orchid Avenue in North Charleston on Thursday at approximately 2 a.m. where they found a victim suffering a gunshot wound to the neck, according to an affidavit.
Deputies met with the male victim after he was in the ambulance, the document states. The victim told deputies he and Oliver were inside the home talking and that during the course of the discussion, when the victim turned around, Oliver shot him in the neck.
Deputies located a Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver in the bedroom of the home and say it appeared to have been recently fired with the hammer locked to the rear and ready to fire again, the affidavit states.
Deputies say Oliver "made an excited utterance" while being escorted from the home: "I shot him."
Oliver was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
