LADSON, SC (WCSC) - A Lowcountry fire department is mourning the loss of one of its own.
In a Facebook post, the Caromi Fire Department said Engineer Randy Fallaw, 38, died Sunday night after a vehicle accident on Interstate 85 in Anderson County. Fallaw served as an engineer for the fire department for five years.
"Randy was a dedicated firefighter," the post read. "He was a man you could count on to be there whether it was 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning. He will be missed. Rest well, brother."
Anderson County Dep. Coroner Charlie Boseman said Fallaw died shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday in a single-vehicle crash. Officials say he was driving north on Interstate 85 when he swerved to miss another accident, drove off the road and hit a tree. Fallaw was wearing a seat belt.
