N. Charleston police investigating after man walking to deli struck by gunfire

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating after a man walking to a deli was shot in the hand Tuesday afternoon. 

Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Baxter Street for a report by a CARTA bus driver of shots being fired.

According to police, 30 minutes later dispatch told officers that a shooting victim was being treated at MUSC.

The victim told officers he was walking to a deli on Spruill Avenue when he was shot in the left hand by an unknown suspect. 

NCPD officials say the victim was transported to MUSC by his girlfriend. 

Authorities stated that the victim's wound is non-life threatening. 

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
