NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - With temperatures expected to drop below 20-degrees Wednesday night, the Charleston County Sheriff's Office will be opening the doors to its work camp facility to provide people a way to escape from the cold.
The warming shelter located on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston will be open from January 7 at 4 p.m. through Saturday, January 10 at 12 p.m.
CARTA announced Tuesday it will provide free service to those trying to make their way to the warming shelter.
The service will run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Riders boarding Route 10 Rivers Avenue can hope on at the following stops:
- Corner of Meeting and Columbus
- Corner of Meeting and Lee
- Across the street from TriCounty Family Ministries, located at 3349 Rivers Avenue
- CARTA bus stops surrounding Goodwill on Rivers Avenue
Those who intend to use the free service to the warming shelter need to let the driver know upon boarding.
