Duo wanted after failed attempt to steal ATM machine from convenience store

DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Charleston investigators are searching for two people who were caught on camera attempting to steal an ATM machine from a convenience store on Daniel Island.

On Dec. 28, 2014, police responded to Blue Water at 1952 Clements Ferry Road for an alarm.

Officers found that the rear glass door of the business had been broken. Investigators also observed fresh wet tire tracks near the back door as well as wet foot prints consistent with tennis shoes or sneakers.

Surveillance video showed a white Ford pickup truck backed up to the rear door, and two suspects getting out the truck. Authorities say the suspects attempted to do something to the stores' doors, but gave up.

One of the suspects is then seen with a pry bar smashing the rear door.

The videos shows that as one of the suspects goes behind the counter, the other moves toward an ATM machine which is bolted to the floor.

Police say the suspects then attempted to move the ATM machine. The suspects are then seen leaving the store quickly and fleeing the area in the truck.

CPD officials say the suspects' truck appears to be a newer model F-150 single cab.

Police say the first suspect was wearing dark pants, an urban camouflage hoodie, an unknown mask, white tennis shoes with white laces, gray tops and red soles, and a cloth on his right hand and a blue glove on his left hand.

The second suspect was seen wearing a dark hoodie, possibly black or navy, a mask, gloves, jeans and white sneakers.
