NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Walmart is accepting applications and plans to hire as many as 95 employees for its new Neighborhood Market in Goose Creek.
The company set up a temporary hiring center at 2110 Greenridge Rd., Suite D, in North Charleston to accept applications from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The new Walmart Neighborhood Market is slated to open this winter, but most of the new employees will begin work in January to help prepare the store for its grand opening, spokesperson Julie Ward says.
The company is looking to hire both full-time and part-time employees.
Walmart announced plans in July for the new location, to be housed in a 7.3 acre property formerly occupied by the Butchies by Design store on St. James Avenue.
The Neighborhood Market format includes a full supermarket with organic and natural selections and various prepared food options, a pharmacy and an adjoining gas station, the company's website states.
The new store is expected to be about a quarter of the size of a typical Walmart Superstore.
