Officer injured in N. Charleston chase, suspect arrested

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

 A North Charleston police officer is recovering from injuries after wrecking his vehicle during a car chase Wednesday night. 

According to police, an officer tried to pull a suspect over for a narcotics violation around 8 p.m. on Chantilly Lane. The driver did not stop, and led police on a chase up Dorchester Road. 

During the chase, an officer reportedly hit a vehicle not involved in the pursuit in the area of Dorchester and Cross County Road. 

The chase ended in Goose Creek, where officers arrested 26-year-old Terrance Heyward. 

Heyward was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and marijuana possession.
