MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Town of Mt. Pleasant cut the ribbon on two new bus shelters at Towne Centre Tuesday morning.
The new structures, which will provide shelter to those using public transportation, are located next to the roundabout leading to Lowe's and on Hungryneck Boulevard next to the movie theater.
"These wonderful structures will provide welcome shelter for residents and visitors using transit as an efficient, green and viable means of transportation," Mt. Pleasant Mayor Linda Page said in a release.
William Hamilton, leader of the community transit advocacy group Hungryneck Straphangers, says the new shelters will do more than just keep the rain and sun off of people waiting for rides.
"They encourage people to ride transit, helping make our roads more efficient for everyone," Hamilton said.
