NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police are investigating after a man was shot three times outside of a convenience store Thursday night.

Police say the incident happened outside of a convenience store on 1260 Remount Rd. around 7:07 p.m.

An incident report states officers arrived to find the victim lying on the sidewalk, with gunshot wounds to his left hip, right thigh, and right buttocks.

The victim and a witness told police they had just left Hot Spot when they noticed a person was following them. The person then fired approximately 10 shots at them, with three of them hitting the victim.

The witness did not know the suspect, the report states.

An officer on the scene reportedly provided first aid until EMS arrived to transport the victim to a hospital.

Police are continuing the investigation.
